Lighter Brighter System

A PLAN THAT WORKS FOR YOU
Therapy focuses on healing the most important relationship we have: the relationship with Self. Life’s transitions are not often fluid—change doesn’t happen in a single moment, but over time. In developing this relationship with the Self, we learn our capacities and strengths and we discover the depths of our resilience. Over time, we begin to identify the felt sense of resonance, and set forth the path of making choices that lead to a Lighter and Brighter experience.
WHY THERAPY
When we decide to come to therapy, whether it is in an individual, family, or couple dynamic, we are often living through a liminal experience. A transitional state in which a threshold has been reached; we can no longer live in the old experience or understanding, and we desire to learn how to hold the tension until the new experience appears. Thus, therapy might best be corelated to the structure and function of a bridge. Just as a bridge provides safe passage from one world to the next, therapy is a stabilizing force that provides the tools, resources, and support needed to traverse effectively from one emotional state or life stage to the next. A bridge also provides a vantage point to discern what can be left behind from the old world and the clarity to know what is now needed in the journey forward into the new world. A bridge represents the notable importance of the elements of stability and connection through the ongoing process of chaos, change, and adaptation. Therapy thus functions as a bridge, a tool used to navigate the gap between past and future selves into a new steady rhythm of growth and evolution.

HI, I'M JENN
One of my mentors once said: We are all suffering. Many of us are not aware of our suffering; but those that are aware and seek to do something different have the ability to change their story. My own story is one of transformation through divorce and learning to navigate a path forward with no clear direction.
Difficult life transitions generally last longer than we would prefer. And yet, although harrowing, time spent in transfiguration can reveal opportune moments of self-discovery and evolution. When we walk through such dark times, we can feel unworthy and alone, and we try to find ways to cope with the pain-including avoidance and addiction to many forms of distraction. We stay busy or numb to avoid our pain, and as if driven by an outside force, we do more and more to prove we are worthy.

Over the many years of my transformation through pain, allowing heartbreak and disbelief to have a place of expression has brought a sense of balance and eventually lead to changing my story to one of finding genuine moments of happiness, empowerment, and freedom. If you are suffering, and you are curious to find an alternate way, there is another story for you as well. I am here to help you find that story.
My intention is to provide a sense of presence to accent a path back to the authentic self. When truly being ourselves, we reclaim a free and joy filled life. I have been providing psychotherapy since 2019. Prior to my counseling career, I pursued an education in biological sciences and taught high school Chemistry courses for multiple years. I completed my masters in clinical mental health at Adams State University.

My theoretical orientation is centered around Internal Family Systems (IFS) and somatic awareness approaches. IFS is a compassionate, evidence-based approach that helps to understand and heal the different -parts- of ourselves—such as the inner critic, the people-pleaser, or the wounded child. IFS views the mind as made up of sub-personalities, each with its own role and intentions, and supports one in connecting with their core Self—a calm, curious, and compassionate inner presence. By coming to know these parts of our whole self and by noticing various somatic expressions or body sensations, we begin to foster greater self-understanding and emotional well-being. This process is deeply rooted in mindful awareness. Awareness is an indicator that Self energy is present and presiding. With conscious awareness, curiosity naturally follows, creating more safety and space inside to explore and respond. The intent of a mindful parts work approach is to help you become more present with all of yourself so you can feel more integrated, balanced, confident, and at peace.
