IN-PERSON OR VIRTUAL

For the past few years, many of my clients prefer to meet via video telehealth. They say that they like the convenience and flexibility of meeting on the secure, privacy compliant video conferencing platform we use.

If you’d like to schedule an in-person appointment, I currently see clients in my Denver office located at 3955 East Exposition Avenue. This space is accessible to public transportation and also offers ample parking.

1:1 TRADITIONAL TALK THERAPY

A key aspect of my psychotherapy practice is fostering a respectful, collaborative, and compassionate connection with my clients. This relationship provides a safe space for us to discuss, explore, and work through emotions and experiences, leading to greater insight, healing, and personal growth.

In this work, we will explore on many levels:

  • Emotions – you will begin to recognize your feelings as assets by learning how to discern and experience emotions without flooding and reactivity

  • Mind -learn how to observe the intricacies of thoughts and the potent spaces of pause in between thoughts by working with the dynamics of the thinking mind that create struggle and pain in life and relationships

  • Body – learn how the body communicates and stores memories, beliefs, and old stories; begin to heal your body of pain, and release limiting patterns

  • Behavior – identify unconscious relational strategies that are no longer needed and integrate new behavioral expression and ways of being through practice

  • Spirit*Soul*Energy– There are many words for the life force emanating from the physical form. Often referred to as vibration, this intrinsic nature is conscious and intelligent, and can be known as the authentic expression of the Self. We will work to increase awareness of and connection to this energy.

COUPLES THERAPY

Couples work is further informed by Sue Johnson’s Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy, Terry Real’s treatment model for Relational Living, John Gottman’s Research-based couples counseling model, and Stan Tatkin’s Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy.

TOGETHER WE WILL WORK TO:

  • explore attachment and communication styles, resolve impasses, and strengthen relationships with others: children, extended family, friends, co-workers, etc.

  • clear up any unfinished business from families of origin or previous relationships

  • learn new skills: empathic listening, negotiating needs, resolving conflicts, and repairing ruptures

  • deepen emotional and sexual intimacy and connection

  • explore dreams and set achievable goals around career, finances, and lifestyle

“Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and books that are now written in a very foreign tongue...Live the questions...And the point is, to live everything. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer.”

PERSONALIZED YOGA AND NIDRA MEDITATIONS

My background includes 15+ years of teaching and practicing yoga and meditation, with multiple teaching certifications in Hatha, Kundalini, and Nidra modalities. In a therapy session, I might suggest a yoga posture for relaxation or to help explore a particular physical sensation as an exercise or for homework. Poses are not strenuous, and doing yoga this way is not at all the same as taking a yoga class with a room full of people.

Yoga Nidra is very different than asana poses, or movement of the body. Nidra is a sleep-based, guided meditation intended to reduce the effects of stress and balance the bio-chemistry of the body. In a Nidra experience, a state of conscious relaxation is guided, the body is encouraged into a state of complete rest while the mind remains in a deeply relaxed yet alert state. This state, referred to as the hypnagogic state, is a perfect entry point for working with unconscious material or beliefs. The use of positively structured intentions help to rewire neural pathways in the brain creating new patterns of thought and behavior. This process gradually replaces limiting beliefs with empowering beliefs allowing for a more easeful shift toward alignment with your truest values and creative potential.
